| VOTER REGISTRATION "Ur Way" WAY Next Monday, FEB 6 @ Ur Way Yogurt & Coffee Bar 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM 3001 Tulane Ave (b/w Broad & Jeff Davis) First up in a long list of awesome programming is next Monday Feb 6, 6:30p - 8:30p, the day after the Superbowl, at Ur Way Yogurt & Coffee Bar in MidCity (3001 Tulane Avenue, #1), we're having a voter registration event before Mardi Gras kicks off. The last day to register to vote for the first election of the spring (March 24: Presidential Primary and City Council At-Large General) is actually Ash Wednesday, so we're giving you a pre-Mardi Gras chance to show up, get registered, AND get some goodies (be truthful, are you really going to get up to register to vote on Ash Wednesday?!)!
The first 20 people to come and register to vote or update their registration will get a free yogurt!* Yogurt you may ask? At Ur Way, you can enjoy a guilt free, non-fat frozen dessert that taste better than ice cream with any variety of toppings of your choice. We've been there - and we promise, you will become an instant fan! You can also grab a warm hazelnut cappuccino, a praline flavored hot chocolate, slice of cheesecake, fruit smoothies, or pink lemonade sorbet. At Ur Way, there is an option for everyone! We'll also have 2 King Cakes we're giving out pieces of to anyone who registers. The difference is this time, if you get a baby, you GET a PAIR of Hornets Tickets (Wed night Feb 29 vs the Toronto Raptors!), courtesy of our partner organization, the Young Leadership Council.
You can RSVP on our Facebook Event Page! http://www.facebook.com/events/338126852894558/
So bring yourself, and bring your non-registered friends/coworkers for some free yogurt, a chance to win Hornets tickets, and most importantly, to register to vote for March 24! We'll see you there. Remember you can follow EngageNOLA on Twitter ( @EngageNOLA ), Like us on Facebook (facebook.com/engagenola ), and certainly visit our website for the latest events and updates (www.engagenola.org ). Also keep in mind, we're taking nominations now for the 2012 Good Citizen award, so submit those names to us!!
And don't forget, if you want to help EngageNOLA continue with it's goals, you too can volunteer to help out (email: engagenola@gmail.com ), or simply donate to our cause to help us continue affording all these awesome engagement events. Contact us for a specific list of needs if you'd like to help us fund more of these events.
See you at Ur Way! Look for us near the back of the store - we'll be the ones with yogurt on our noses!
* Free Yogurt is based on $4 coupon value. Any yogurt that costs more than $4 based on weight will only be covered up to the first $4. |
Letter from the Chair of EngageNOLA Board of Directors Hello everyone!
First, I hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year. We are entering the time of the year everyone looks forward to in New Orleans, Mardi Gras season, crawfish season, and festival season! Of course we are also entering an exciting election season in New Orleans and that’s not even mentioning the 2012 presidential election cycle that is already underway. This is a great time to be in New Orleans and a great time to GET ENGAGED!
Many awesome things are happening in EngageNOLA as we enter our third year as an established organization ( EMAIL US when you have a free minute and we can give you all the background info). We are in the process of officially becoming a 501(c)3 organization. We have a number of new board members who are really excited and motived. We are focusing on making our core events (Meet The Candidate Series, Meet Your Public Official Series, and Engagement Parties) better than ever. Additionally, we are continuing to work with our partner organizations, the Young Leadership Council (YLC), Urban League of New Orleans Young Professionals (ULYP), Puentes, and the Vietnamese American Young Leaders Association of New Orleans (VAYLA) in finding creative and innovative ways to promote civic education and civic engagement among our demographic.
We admit that we have lofty goals set for this year with EngageNOLA. Of course we realize we cannot do this without your support and input. We hope that you will continue to support EngageNOLA by attending our events and spreading the word about how awesome we are. We also hope that you consider supporting EngageNOLA financially; no donation is too small. And last, we want you to help support EngageNOLA by giving us open and honest feedback about how we are doing. Please go check us out on the web: www.engagenola.org , on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EngageNOLA , and on twitter: @EngageNOLA , for more information and to learn about our upcoming programs and events
Thank you so much for your support and look forward to seeing you soon!
